Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Guests consistently praise the Black Lion Inn's location in a nice village, not far from Alton Towers, with accommodations separate from the pub for a quiet stay, particularly on Mondays when the pub is closed. Many appreciate the well-renovated rooms offering ground coffee, fresh milk, and a selection of teas, as well as the presence of an electric car charger. The food, especially the cooked breakfast and evening meals, receives high marks for quality, with gluten-free and veggie options available and herbs grown for the kitchen in the pub garden; however, some have noted that the breakfast selection beyond the cooked options could be more extensive. Being dog-friendly is also a definite plus for many.

The staff was friendly. The evening meal was acceptable.
The breakfast choices disappointed me. There was no fresh fruit at all. Only cornflakes comprised the cereal selection (I guess healthy options were not a priority). The room was small, considering what I paid for it.
